SUMMARY: This work illustrates the symbiotic relation between civilization and human by contracting the sense of isolation as “body” in the civilized society and the calmness atmosphere that monuments build by “body” built have.
Small talk is the plural form of Smalltalk which is a computer language developed in the 1970s. Smalltalk run computer by exchanging messages between small independent programs called the “object”, and indicates methodology unlike the conventional computers language which programing all movement beforehand, and make a great influence on a current computer technology.
I consider that a human is structured with personality as the irreplaceable independent individual and replaceable “body” = “object” made anonymity by the social attribute such as child, student, teacher, office worker and/or housewife. Individual connection establish the relationship such as family or friend. Also the activity of “body” establish society. I named this work Smalltalks because this behavior look like computer processes of processing huge data on large scaled distributed computer systems. The civilization and society is constructed by messages which exchanging between small and equivalent objects called “body”, however, activities of “body”=process is the civilization and society.
Suddenly I feel alone in the office building where many people are working when a project climbed over difficulty or success faded away, or at the moment when the meeting was over. This sense comes from the recognition that my own activity as the irreplaceable personality is replaceable activities as a “body” in fact. This paralyzing sense of emptiness comes from the recognition that even if oneself disappears now, the society follows as if nothing happened, and lost a valid reason and mission to the live. At that time, building seems to be talkable. So that the things used for a long time becomes TSUKUMOGAMI a kind of fairy, building possibly get something like personality while it used by many people. And I feel that today’s TSUKUMOGAMI accept me calmly. There is no way for realize the people who participated in the construction of building. But the building exists as a monument of the modern civilization apart from delight and disappointment of the of them., even my daily activity becomes some kind of result but no one knows about it, it should support society In the same way as a building...
